ℹ️ Raising a vegan / vegetarian child on a plant based diet isn't easy or straight forward. We have been reading the guidelines issued by the Portuguese government on veganism for children and it is looked upon very positively. For a country that is traditionally on a meat diet we were surprised at how favorable the guidelines were. Luckily because we have been researching this for a long time we were already doing things properly with regards to Story's nutrition which is reassuring. One thing that this has really highlighted though, is that parents on a mostly plant based diet raising their kids the same way have to make sure they are constantly researching the health and requirements for their children. And as a result often know more about the nutrients we all need than those who only follow a traditional diet. We feel that remaining health conscious will always be important to us and maybe that will rub off on Story too as she grows up and chooses her own path in the future. :-)
