Saquarema's João Chianca fought back after being relegated in his rookie year. Chianca returned to the CT his sophomore year, realizing his potential, and put up big results early in the season. A semi at Pipe, semi at Sunset, and remarkably, taking his first CT Win At the MEO Rip Pro Pro Portugal. Chianca is now the 4th seed at the Rip Curl WSL Finals, where he will start Match 1 with priority against fellow Volcom team rider Jack Robinson.

This is what everything has been building towards all season. After 10 events, the World Title will be decided in a one-day, winner-take-all event.
