We're so relieved that the owner of this cow didn't sell her baby boy and allowed him to wander with her. But a passing car must have swept too close to him and tore off a large patch of his flesh.

The wound was serious and without treatment, infection and maggots could have ended his life. We brought them both to our hospital, knowing that the stress of separation from his mother would have been traumatic, and in stress, animals can become very weak.

But with his mom close by, daily wound dressings, and delicious green grass, Little Beta healed in a jiffy.
