Making of IAMCHRIS “Citizen of the world”

My name is Christian Grosselfinger, I´m a Cellist and I´ve studied musical composition in Rio de Janeiro. Later I studied cello around Europe starting in Portugal, then Austria, Switzerland, Germany and, nowadays, I live in Italy.
I´ve done a few major projects like Grateful Path visiting 8 countries in Europe raising money for End Polio Now.
I´ve performed at FLIP-Paraty and SESC Rio de Janeiro Winter Festival which was great.
This album is arranged for cello with minor interventions like cajón, whistling, and voice, with narration in the song “Sad One” or a choir in “For the Mountain”.
10 songs were recorded for this album, which was a great experience. The plan was to have 4 days of recording at studio Pitangueira by Henrique Caldas, although the last part was recorded at A Casa Studio in Rio, also great.
The music video “3 Little Girls” was shot at Recinto de Exposições in Guaratinguetá-SP.
This song reproduces an encounter I had with 3 girls, performers from the Balkans, in Trieste, Italy. They saw the cello and invited me to play along. I loved to partake in this challenge, it was such a distinct rhythm, for those familiar with music it was a 5/8 constant time signature.
I suffered a bit to play along but I managed, so this song was dedicated to them.
Production was done by my company “Con Brio”, and the video was shot by Davi Barbosa from “Filme”. The girls were represented by 3 performers.
The Shooting, which was a new experience for me, was awesome and got me hooked.
During the shooting of “Sad One” 2 locations were employed: Praça da Estação and Espaço Vivarte, both in Guaratinguetá-SP.
The song was composed as an homage to the all so present loneliness during my voyages.
Leila Bass choreographed and performed beautifully displaying the urge to get out of this solitude without success.
This was the first recording from 2 music videos to promote the album. It was lovely to see everyone getting together and giving their best for it to happen.
