Ana Pessoa's 'The Voice Inside my Head' is one of 28 essays and short stories featured in the volume EUROPA28: WRITING BY WOMEN ON THE FUTURE OF EUROPE, edited by Sarah Cleave & Sophie Hughes, published by Comma Press in 2020.

Ana Pessoa is a Portuguese writer and translator living in Brussels. She has published three books for young adults: Mary John, Supergiant (White Ravens Catalogue, 2015) and The Karate Girls’ Red Notebook (Branquinho da Fonseca prize 2011). Ana’s books are also published in Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. In her free time she writes in a blog (www.belgavista.blogspot.com) and participates in several writers’ groups. Many of her stories have won awards in Portugal and abroad (Jovens Criadores 2013, Portugal; Castello di Duino 2011, Italy; Sea of Words 2010, Spain). Ana is one of the 39 emerging writers under 40 years old selected to participate in the European Children’s Literature Hay Festival – Aarhus 39 in 2017.

Rahul Bery is based in Cardiff and translates from Spanish and Portuguese to English. His translations have appeared in The White Review, Granta, Freeman’s, Words without Borders and elsewhere and his first full-length translation, of David Trueba’s Tierra de Campos, will be published in 2020 by Weidenfeld & Nicolson. He was the British Library’s translator-in-residence for 2018-2019 and is currently working with the Stephen Spender Trust on developing resources for creative translation activities in classrooms.
